The story “I’m just unlucky” is heavier than any bad luck you’ve actually had.

Hard things land unevenly, and plenty of what went wrong for you was genuinely not your doing. The trouble starts when a run of events hardens into a description, because a description covers the future too. Once you are the unlucky one, there is no reason to try the audition, and the not-trying quietly costs more than the original bad stretch did.
Separate the two this week. List what actually happened, plainly, and notice that each item has a date attached. Then take one small swing where luck barely matters.
Where do you call it bad luck instead of bad preparation?
