“Too sensitive” often just means you noticed what everyone else walked past.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Being told you take things too hard is often a comment about someone else’s comfort rather than an accurate account of you. Catching a tone shift, a half-said thing, who got left off the plan: that is perception, and perception is not a defect. It does cost more, because you feel a room as well as read it.

When the phrase comes up this week, check the claim before you accept it. Ask whether you actually overreacted, or whether you noticed something the other person would rather not discuss. Keep the noticing, and get choosier about where you spend it.
