The voice in your head talks to you more than anyone else does. Make it someone you’d actually want to hang out with.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

That commentary runs all day, and its tone becomes the weather you live in. Most people would end a friendship with anybody who spoke to them the way they talk to themselves after a mistake. The voice feels like a fixed fact about you, and it was learned from somewhere, which means it can be taught something else.

Catch it once this week and rephrase what it said the way a good friend would make the same point. Keep the content, change the delivery entirely. A few dozen of those across a year genuinely changes how the room sounds.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Would you stay friends with someone who spoke to you that way?
