Complaining is free, but the return on it is terrible.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Saying the thing out loud lets off a little pressure, which is why it feels productive for about thirty seconds. After that it mostly rehearses the problem, keeps it vivid, and hands your mood to whoever is listening. Nothing about the situation moves, and the situation was the whole reason you started.

Give yourself two minutes of it this week and then ask one question: what is the smallest thing that would change this. Complain to somebody who will ask you that. Venting has a place, and it works much better with an exit attached.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What do you complain about weekly without changing anything?
