Growth looks like two things at once from behind. The person you were would be amazed at what you now handle without thinking, and would also find you slower, more careful, less certain about things they were sure of. Both reactions are evidence that the time actually did something. Standing still would have produced neither.
Think back to a specific week a year ago and name one thing that would have flattened you then and would not now. Then name one thing you have lost, honestly. Holding both is a better picture of yourself than either on its own.
