Everyone is the main character in their own story and a background extra in yours. Keep that in mind before you judge.

Everyone is running a full interior life that you see almost none of. The person who cut in front of you, the friend who did not reply: each of them is at the center of a day with its own reasons and pressures, and you appear in it for four seconds. Most of what looks like rudeness is somebody else’s Tuesday.

Next time someone is sharp with you, try assuming there is a reason you cannot see before you decide what kind of person they are. You will sometimes be wrong. You will still be right more often than the version that assumes it was aimed at you.
