A mood is temporary and a record is not, and that mismatch is where most regret comes from. What you say at nine tonight is an accurate report of nine tonight, which is exactly why it reads so badly in March when somebody produces it again. The feeling expires and the copy does not.

Give anything that could be captured one hour. Write it, hold it, look again after you have eaten or walked somewhere. If it still reads right in an hour, send it, and it will read right in a year too.
