Everybody’s first hundred drawings of hands look like gloves full of sausages. Draw the hundred and first.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

Being bad at the start is a stage, not a verdict. The hundred rough attempts are where your hand and your eye learn to agree, and there is no route around them. What looks like talent in other people is usually a stack of early work you never saw.

Count your attempts instead of grading them. Number the corner of each one this week and let the number be the thing you are proud of. On the day it finally clicks, you will want proof of how long you kept going.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What would your hundred and first attempt look like?
