Coming back from an injury means being patient with a body that remembers how good you used to be.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

Recovery is hard partly because your memory of your old capacity arrives before the capacity does. You know what you could do in March, and that sits next to what you can do today and makes every session feel like loss. Healing runs on its own clock and does not care what you remember.

Measure against last week instead of last season. Keep the sessions within what the day allows, and let the physio or the coach set the ceiling rather than your memory. Getting back takes what it takes, and pushing through usually makes it longer.
