Open the kiln before it cools and the pots crack. Finished and ready to handle are two different moments.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Being finished and being ready to handle are two separate moments, and treating them as one is how good work gets wrecked at the last step. The final stage of many things is not activity, it is settling, and you cannot tell by looking whether that has happened. Impatience at the very end costs more than impatience anywhere else.
When you have just completed something, build in a cooling period before you touch it again. Sleep on the essay, wait a day before you show the drawing, let an argument cool before you revisit it. It is not done until it can survive being handled.
What are you eager to handle before it has cooled?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
