A green banana won’t ripen faster because you stare at it. It will ripen faster next to other ripe ones.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

Attention is not an input for every process. Watching something develop does nothing to the thing and quite a lot to you, mostly in the form of frustration you then blame on the delay. What does change the pace is environment: what is around it, what it is near, what conditions it is sitting in.

Instead of monitoring the thing you want to grow, change what surrounds it. Sit near people who are already doing it, join the group, put yourself in the room where it is normal. Proximity does the work that staring cannot.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Who around you is further along and worth standing closer to?
