Finish one project only you care about. It’ll show you who you are when nobody’s grading.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

Almost everything you do comes with a grade, a like count, or somebody’s reaction. That feedback quietly starts steering your choices, until it gets hard to tell what you like from what performs well. A project nobody is watching takes the scoreboard away and shows you what you would still make with nothing riding on it.

Choose something small enough to actually finish: a song, a short story, a shelf, a route you walk. Do not post it while it is in progress. Finishing is where the excitement wears off and you find out whether you wanted the thing or the attention.
