Independence isn’t doing everything alone. It’s not needing permission to ask for help.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
The version of independence that means never asking anybody for anything is not independence, it is pride with a schedule. What actually changes as you grow up is that you stop needing approval before you reach out. You decide something is beyond you, you pick who to ask, and you ask, without first checking whether you are allowed to need help.
Notice whether you hesitate because you genuinely do not need help or because you are waiting for permission. If it is the second, skip that step this week and ask directly. Choosing who you lean on says more about running your own life than doing it all alone.
Who could you ask for help without feeling smaller?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
