Some people decided who you were at a particular moment and stopped gathering information. Nothing you do gets added, because the file is closed, and anything new gets read as further proof of the old story. What you are running into there is a limit in how they look, not a fact about you.

Put your effort into the people still updating. You can be perfectly pleasant to the others without auditioning for them. If the old verdict starts sounding true inside your own head, check it against what you have actually done this year.
