Spending is a record of decisions made in real moments, which makes it more honest than any description of yourself. It is not a moral scoreboard, and having very little to spend does not make the record less yours. It shows where small repeated choices went, and small repeated choices are most of a life.

Look at one month without flinching at it. Add up the rough categories and see whether the pattern matches what you would say matters to you. If one line surprises you, change that line rather than everything.
