If everyone you listen to agrees with you, you’re not informed. You’re in a hallway with an echo.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Agreement feels like evidence and is usually just selection. When your sources, your friends and your feed all land on the same conclusion, nothing has been confirmed; you have assembled a group that started where you started. Being informed takes at least one voice that makes you slightly uncomfortable.

Find the sharpest person who disagrees with you on something you care about and read them properly, not the worst version of their case. You may not move an inch. You will at least know what you are arguing with.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Who in your feed disagrees with you and stays anyway?
