Scrolling other people’s lives is research on them. Journaling is research on you.

STILLNESS
Hours can go into learning what other people are doing while no minutes go into what you are doing, and both feel like paying attention. One fills your head with other people’s decisions, their timing, their apparent progress. The other produces material about the only life you can actually adjust. Neither is forbidden, though the ratio is usually lopsided by a wide margin.
Spend ten minutes writing for every hour spent watching, at least once this week. Write badly, since nobody reads it. Then compare which one left you knowing something you could use.
How much of today did you spend studying other people?
