Figure out how much social time is enough for you. Past that point, you’re not having fun, you’re enduring.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

There is a point in most social stretches where enjoyment turns into effort, and it arrives at different times for different people. Past it you are still present and still smiling, but what you are doing has changed from spending time with people to getting through an evening. Nobody announces that switch, and overshooting it repeatedly is why people conclude they dislike socializing when what they dislike is the overshoot.

Watch for the flip this week. Note roughly how many hours in it happened. Then build the next plan around that number rather than around what everybody else is doing.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

At what hour of hanging out do you stop enjoying it?
