Anyone can match you for a month. Very few will match you for ten years, because the field thins with every year that passes and the thinning is not about ability. Persistence becomes an advantage precisely because it cannot be acquired quickly by anyone who wants to catch up.

Think about where being present for a decade would make you unusual. That is often a better strategic question than where you could be best, and it is more within your control.
