Your attention got cut into a hundred pieces a day. Solitude is how you glue some of it back.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Attention does not disappear so much as get spent in slivers, thirty seconds here, a notification there, until nothing gets your whole head. The cost stays hidden because each piece is tiny. What you notice instead is a vague tiredness and the sense that you did a lot and finished nothing. Time alone with no input is how the pieces find each other again.
Try twenty minutes with nothing running: no music, no screen, no plan. It will feel strange at first and then it will not. Same day each week helps, if that makes it easier to keep.
