Money buys certain freedoms directly and cannot buy others. The ability to solve your own problems, to be useful anywhere, to understand what is happening around you: these come from capability and they cannot be purchased at short notice at any price.

Invest some of your time in becoming capable rather than only in becoming secure. Skills are portable in a way that arrangements are not, and they hold value when circumstances change suddenly.
