Your plan doesn’t need applause to work. It needs Tuesday, and then another Tuesday.

LEADERSHIP

WHAT THIS MEANS

Plans fail in the ordinary middle, not at the ambitious start. The part that decides everything is whether you do the thing on a normal day with no excitement attached and nobody watching. Applause is a good accelerant and a terrible fuel, because it runs out precisely when the work gets dull. Repetition is what actually moves the number.

Pick the smallest version you could do on a bad Tuesday and make that the standard. Do it at the same size on days you do not feel like it. Count weeks rather than days, since weeks are where it starts to show.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Next Tuesday, will you do it again without any applause?
