The urge to push through a closing window usually comes from the fear of waiting, not from any real advantage. Rushing the last moment of an opportunity tends to produce the worst version of it, taken badly and at the wrong speed. Waiting costs a small amount of time. The other option occasionally costs much more than that.
When you feel yourself accelerating toward something because it might be about to close, stop and check what the actual hurry is. Often the same chance comes round again in a slightly better form. Let one thing go past this week and see whether anything bad actually happens.
