There was a final time you all played outside together until the streetlights came on. Nobody announced it.

Most endings go unmarked. Something happens for the final time and everybody goes home assuming there will be another one, and then the schedule shifts or a family moves and a whole era closes with no final scene. You find out afterward, usually much later, and only by accident.

Since the lasts are invisible, treat a few ordinary things as though they might be near one. Stay the extra twenty minutes. Go to the thing you were planning to skip. Catching all of them is impossible, and catching a couple is worth the trouble.
