The people you’ll admire at eighty mostly spent their twenties being curious, not cool.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Cool is maintenance work with a short shelf life. Most of its cost sits in what you cannot do while performing it: ask an obvious question, be visibly new at something, care about a thing that is not currently acceptable to care about. Curiosity runs on the opposite economics, because anything you are willing to be bad at for a month becomes something you can do for life. One is rent and the other is savings.
Be a beginner at something in public this week. Ask the question you assume everybody else already knows the answer to.
What would you explore if looking cool stopped mattering entirely?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
