Anger is usually pointing at something you care about. Look where it points before you swing.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Anger arrives fast and it is almost never random. Underneath it there is usually something you value that just got stepped on: fairness, a friendship, being taken seriously. The feeling is useful information, and the trouble comes from acting on it before reading it. Most regret after a fight is about timing rather than about having felt anything at all.
When it spikes this week, put one question between the feeling and the response: what exactly got hit here. Answer it in your head before you open your mouth. The real sentence is often different, and much more worth saying, than the one you were about to use.
Where was your anger pointing the last time it flared?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
