Your circumstances explain where you started. They don’t get to write where you finish.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Where you started is real and it is not neutral. Some people begin with more money, quieter houses and better schools, and pretending otherwise is a comfortable lie told by people who had all three. What a starting point cannot do is decide the ending, because it sets the difficulty rather than the result. Holding both of those at once is harder than picking one.

Name the actual constraint you are working with instead of carrying it as a vague weight. Find the one thing inside it you can move this month, and move that. Ask for help where help exists, because refusing it is not the same as independence.

What about your starting point do you treat as your ending?
