Arguing about something you haven’t researched is confidence with nothing in the tank.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Certainty is easy to produce and requires no underlying material, which is why the loudest position in a room is often the least examined. Having heard something twice feels a lot like knowing it. The problem appears the moment somebody asks a second question and there is nothing behind the first answer. Then you are defending your pride rather than the point.
Before your next strong opinion goes public, spend fifteen minutes finding out whether it holds. If you have not looked, say so and stay in the conversation anyway. Not knowing yet is a perfectly good position, and it is much easier to move from.
Which argument did you win on volume rather than knowledge?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
