“Fine” is the most used lie in any language. Give the people who actually ask a real answer.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Fine is a door you close politely. It works because most people asking are being casual, and answering properly would take longer than either of you planned. The cost is that the few who genuinely want to know get the same closed door as everyone else, and after a while they stop knocking.
Learn to tell the difference between a greeting and a real question. When someone slows down and waits, give them one honest sentence instead of the reflex. You do not owe anyone the whole story, but tired, or worried about Friday, is a start.
When someone asks how you are, what is the real answer?
