Stop-and-go traffic still gets you home. Slow is still a direction.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

Slow progress registers as no progress, which is why traffic is maddening in a way that distance never is. Movement is still movement even when it keeps stopping, and arrival depends on continuing rather than on speed. The frustration comes from comparing your pace with the one you expected. The road is doing what roads sometimes do.

While everything is going slowly, measure in distance rather than in speed. Ask whether you are closer than last month, not whether you are moving fast. Then keep going, because stop and go still ends at the destination.
