A friend’s betrayal should teach you to choose better, not to lock every door.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Betrayal teaches by overcorrection if you let it. The pain is real, and the lesson your body offers is simple and wrong: trust nobody. What happened was narrower than that: one person, with particular patterns you can now recognize, did something specific, and those patterns are what you actually learned to read.
Rather than closing down, get precise about what you missed. Write out the signs that were there early and what you told yourself about them. Then keep trusting people, slightly slower, with attention to that list. A locked door keeps out the next friendship just as thoroughly.
Which door did you lock after one person let you down?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
