Recovery is part of performance, not an interruption of it.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

In any serious training, the adaptation happens during recovery rather than during the effort. The work supplies the stimulus, the rest supplies the growth, and skipping the second half simply means accumulating damage without benefit. The same is true of thinking and of creative work, though it is easier to pretend otherwise when the effort is mental. Treating rest as time stolen from performance is a misreading of how performance is made.

Look at your week and find where the recovery actually is. If you cannot point to it, schedule it as deliberately as you schedule the hard sessions. It is part of the training, not a break from it.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Do you treat rest as part of the work or against it?
