Security and ambition get presented as a binary far more often than they need to be. A steady income can fund an uncertain project and remove the panic that makes people abandon things early. Plenty of what became someone’s whole life started in the evenings while something else paid the rent.

If you are stuck between them, run both for a fixed period and set a date to review. Protect a specific number of hours a week rather than hoping for spare time. The steady thing is not a betrayal of the other one.
