The job you’ll love might not have a name yet. Build skills people will need, not just titles people recognize.

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

Roles change faster than the words we have for them, so planning around a title means planning around something with a short life. Underneath any job sit capabilities that keep transferring: explaining things clearly, understanding how money moves, building something that works, handling people well. Those survive whatever the role ends up being called.

Choose your next effort by the skill it leaves you with rather than the label on the door. Ask what you would still be able to do if the whole field reorganized itself. Make sure something you are learning answers that.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Which skill are you building that no title describes?
