The strongest pace is the one you can still recognize months from now.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

Any pace can be held for a week. The question that matters is what you can still be doing in a year, because most things worth building are decided over that timescale rather than over a fortnight. A slower rate that survives is stronger than a faster one that ends in three months and takes a recovery period with it.

Look at your current effort and ask whether you could imagine it in nine months. If not, lower it now to something you could. Consistency will beat the higher number by a wide margin.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Could you keep this month’s pace for a whole year?
