Small messes don’t stay small. They invite friends.

REFLECTION
Disorder is self-reinforcing, because a space that is already untidy removes the reason to be careful with the next thing. One dish becomes a sink, one unread message becomes an inbox, one skipped day becomes a pattern. The first item is not the problem, the permission it grants is.
Reset one small area completely rather than improving several a little. Then protect that one area, since a clean surface tends to defend itself. Handling the first item immediately is much cheaper than handling the twentieth.
Which small mess at home have you walked past daily?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
