Before you copy someone’s life, look at the parts they don’t post.

What you see of anyone is selected, and the selection is made by them. The absent parts are not hidden out of dishonesty; nobody posts the tedious stretch, the debt behind the trip or the thing that was given rather than earned. Copying the visible portion means copying an outline with the mechanism removed.

Before modelling yourself on someone, work out what the life you admire actually requires daily. Decide whether you want those hours, since those are what is on offer rather than the photograph.
