People remember how you left more than how you arrived. Exit well.

Endings are compressed and memorable in a way that beginnings are not. Whatever you did on the way out becomes the summary, because it is the most recent information and because leaving shows what you do when there is nothing left to gain. Months of good work can be overwritten by one careless exit.

Whatever you are near the end of, finish it properly. Hand over what you know, say the plain thank you, and leave the place in a state that does not require explaining.
