Yelling usually means your vocabulary ran out before your feelings did.

REFLECTION
Volume tends to rise where words run short. When a feeling is bigger than the language available for it, the body supplies force instead, and force reads to everyone else as aggression rather than the overflow it actually is. That is a shortage, not a character flaw. It does mean the message arrives as noise.
When you feel your voice climbing, name the feeling out loud in one plain word instead. Say you are frustrated, or hurt, or scared, and watch what the room does. If no word comes, ask for a few minutes and come back once you have one.
What feeling were you trying to say the last time you shouted?
