A sharp reply pays out immediately and in full, which is why it is so hard to resist, while the record of it sits somewhere indefinitely, stripped of whatever provoked it. You will be the only person who remembers the provocation. Everyone else reads the reply alone.

When the perfect line arrives, write it somewhere private and do not post it. Wait an hour and see whether you still want the trade. Usually the ten good minutes were the whole value, and you can have those without the receipt.
