Every good skater has a collection of falls nobody filmed. Collect yours.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

What gets shown is the make, not the four hundred attempts underneath it, and that edit quietly teaches people that being good is something you either are or are not. The falls are not the obstacle before the skill; they are the material the skill is built out of. Everyone whose clips you admire has a pile of them.

Count your failed attempts this week rather than your successful ones. Aim for a number, which turns each miss into progress instead of evidence. Keep going long enough to build your own unfilmed pile.
