Changing your mind in public is brave. It means you care more about being right than about looking consistent.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Consistency is easy to perform and costs nothing except accuracy. Saying out loud that you were wrong puts you briefly below everyone who never risked a position, and in exchange you get to hold a truer view. Most people will not do it, which is exactly why it is noticed when someone does.
If a view of yours has quietly shifted, say so where you said the old one. One plain sentence, without a long defence of who you used to be. It is uncomfortable for a minute and clarifying for a long time.
What opinion have you outgrown but still defend anyway?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
