The dreaded task on your list takes twenty minutes. The dread takes two weeks. Pick the shorter one.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
A task you are avoiding runs in the background the whole time, charging you attention every day it stays on the list. The work itself is usually finite and much shorter than the anticipation, and the mismatch is what makes avoidance such a bad trade. You are choosing the longer version by not choosing.
Take the thing you have moved to tomorrow four times and give it twenty minutes now. Set a timer so it has an end. The relief afterwards will be out of proportion to the effort, which tells you what the dread was costing.
