Show the weird idea in the brainstorm. Half the great projects started as the idea someone almost didn’t say.

The idea you are embarrassed by is often the only one in the room that is not obvious, and obvious ideas do not need you there to have them. Self-editing happens before anyone else gets a chance to judge, which means the filter is entirely your own guess about their reaction. Most of the good ones nearly went unsaid.

Say the odd suggestion out loud in the next session, framed as a rough thought. Let the room do what it does with it. If it fails, the cost was eight seconds of mild awkwardness.
