You don’t have to write the song today. Write one line. Lines have a way of inviting friends.

A whole song is too large to start, which is why so many never get started. One line is small enough to survive the doubt, and once it exists it changes the problem from making something out of nothing into answering something that is already there. Material attracts more material.

Lower the target until it is almost embarrassing. One line, one bar, one sentence, today, and let tomorrow decide whether it wants company.
