People judge the outside. God is reading the inside, and He’s gentler than you think.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Judgment from outside is quick, visible, and works entirely from surfaces. It reads the version of you that is available to be seen, which is why it is often wrong in both directions, harsher than it should be and easier to satisfy than it looks. Being fully known is a different experience, and the surprising part is that it usually comes with more mercy, not less.

Stop rehearsing the harshest reading of yourself and calling it honesty. Bring the actual state of things into prayer, plainly. Expect gentleness there, even when you would not offer it to yourself.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Where are you harsher with yourself than anyone else is?
