If the whole squad is laughing at something wrong, being the one who doesn’t laugh is a sermon.

LEADERSHIP
Group laughter has enormous pull, and the cost of not joining is immediate and social, which is why almost everyone joins. Simply declining, without a speech or a lecture, is a visible act in that setting, because it removes the assumption that everyone agrees. It usually costs less than you expect and lands harder than you expect.
When it happens, stay quiet and change the subject. If you can, find the person it was aimed at afterward and say something. You do not need to win the moment, only to not add to it.
When did you laugh along at something you knew was cruel?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
