Money will happily run your life if you let it. Put it on payroll instead.

Money is a good servant and a fast master, and it changes roles without asking. It starts setting your schedule, your friendships and the standard you measure yourself against, all while feeling like ordinary practicality. Putting it on payroll means deciding in advance what it is for. An employee gets assignments; an owner makes decisions.
Write down this week what your money is supposed to do: the giving, the saving, the spending you actually enjoy. Decide it before the money arrives rather than after it goes. The amount does not need to be large for this to be a decision, and making the decision is the whole point.
What have you bought lately to quiet a feeling?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
