God didn’t make you to be a cover version of somebody else’s song.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Imitation is a reasonable way to start and a terrible way to finish. Copying someone whose life looks like the right answer saves you working out your own, and it holds up until the parts that are not yours begin to chafe. A cover is always measured against the original. The thing you are for has never been recorded.

Find where you are running someone else’s plan because it looked correct from outside. Ask what you would do with the next year if nobody you admire had gone first. Keep the parts of their example that fit, and let the rest go without deciding they were wrong to want them.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Whose life are you currently performing instead of your own?
