Once a week, have a morning with no alarm and no plan. Let breakfast take forty minutes.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Unstructured time has been quietly reclassified as waste, which is why so few people allow themselves any. A morning with nothing scheduled is not laziness. It is the only condition under which your own thoughts get to set the pace, and forty minutes over breakfast sounds excessive mostly because you are used to eating while doing something else.
Block one morning this week and then defend it. No alarm, nothing to finish, nobody to meet. If you feel restless an hour in, that is worth noticing rather than fixing, and it usually passes on its own.
When did one of your mornings last go slowly on purpose?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
